The Bodden family chose the La Quinta Resort for their portrait session, and it’s easy to see why photographers love shooting there — manicured grounds, warm adobe architecture, and that wide-open desert sky that stays a deep, saturated blue almost every day of the year. The family coordinated in shades of blue to play off that sky, and the result is a set of portraits that feel bright, cohesive, and unmistakably desert.
We lean toward editorial, modern compositions in most of our work, but sessions like this one are a great reminder of why classic family portraiture still matters. There’s something disarming about a genuinely warm, easygoing family in front of the camera — it shows in the images, from relaxed posture to real smiles instead of held ones.
La Quinta Resort’s grounds gave us a nice mix of textures to work with across the session: open lawns for full-family group shots, shaded walkways for softer light, and enough backdrop variety that no two images in the set feel repetitive. It’s one of our go-to recommendations for Coachella Valley families looking for a portrait location that already does half the styling work for you.
