Privacy Policy
Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how Monocle Project Photography collects, uses, shares, and protects information across monocleproject.com and in connection with our photography services.
1. Information We Collect
Information you give us
When you submit an inquiry, booking, or newsletter sign-up form, or otherwise contact us, we collect information such as your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, event or session details, and any other information you choose to share with us.
Payment information
Payments for sessions and packages are processed through our third-party client-management and payment platform. We do not directly collect or store full credit card numbers on our own systems; payment card data is handled by our payment processor in accordance with its own security standards and privacy practices.
Log & device data
When you visit our website, our hosting and analytics providers may automatically log standard technical data, such as your IP address, browser type and version, the pages you visit, referring site, device type, and the date, time, and duration of your visit.
Cookies & similar technologies
We and our service providers may use cookies, pixels, or similar technologies to remember your preferences, understand how visitors use our site, and, where applicable, measure the performance of our marketing.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to: respond to inquiries and manage bookings; process payments and send invoices or receipts; deliver photography services, galleries, and communications related to your session; send you newsletters or marketing communications you have opted into (and let you opt back out at any time); maintain internal business records; understand and improve how our website is used; and comply with legal obligations.
3. Photography & Image Usage
If you book a session with us, the photographs we create are also governed by our Terms of Service, including the model release granting us rights to use session images in our portfolio, website, and marketing. If you'd like different terms for your own session — for example, keeping your images out of our marketing — that needs to be agreed with us in writing before your session; see the Terms of Service for details.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with: third-party service providers who help us operate our business, such as our client-management/booking platform, payment processor, email/newsletter platform, web hosting provider, and online gallery store, each of which processes information only as needed to provide their service to us; professional advisors (such as accountants or legal counsel) where necessary; courts, regulators, or law enforcement where required by law; and, in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of business assets, a successor business, subject to this policy or a comparable one.
5. Data Retention & Security
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, maintain our business records, and comply with legal, tax, and accounting requirements. We use commercially reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect information in our care, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Choices & Rights
You may ask us at any time to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, or delete information we hold about you, subject to our legitimate business, contractual, and legal record-keeping needs (for example, we may need to retain invoices for tax purposes). You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in those emails or by contacting us directly. To make a request, email us at the address below.
7. California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, and to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) or similar state privacy laws apply to our business, you may have the right to know what personal information we have collected about you, request deletion of that information, correct inaccurate information, and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below; we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before responding.
8. Children's Privacy
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children online. We do photograph children and minors as part of family, lifestyle, and event sessions booked by a parent or legal guardian, who provides any related information and consents to these terms on the minor's behalf.
9. Do Not Track
Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no common industry standard for how to respond to these signals, our website does not currently respond to them differently from other visitors.
10. Third-Party Links
Our website may link to third-party sites — including our online gallery store, booking platform, and social media pages — that are not operated by us. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those third-party sites, and encourage you to review their own privacy policies.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal or operational reasons. We will post the revised policy on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of our website or Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
12. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or would like to exercise any of the rights described above, contact us at hello@monocleproject.com or 714.707.0655.
This policy is effective as of September 30, 2026.
