Carmen and Jack are Los Angeles locals, but when it came to their wedding day, only the desert would do. They chose Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Palm Springs for the ceremony, drawn to the stained glass windows and the depth of their own Catholic faith — the kind of setting where the light through the windows does half the work for a photographer. Walking out as newlyweds, they were met with a tunnel of bubbles from friends and family, easily one of our favorite exits we’ve captured in the desert.
Then there was the car. A 1964 Lincoln Continental, suicide doors and all, was parked and waiting to whisk the couple away after the ceremony — except its battery had quietly died during the service. The team pushed it to the side of the church so Carmen and Jack could still get their photos in front of it, and in a moment that felt almost scripted, the engine turned over just as they were about to walk away. They got their classic-car exit after all.
The celebration wrapped up at the couple’s own Palm Springs home, where rice rained down on them in a nod to old-school wedding tradition, and the party carried on late into the desert night. It’s a day that captures everything we love about shooting weddings here — faith, family, a little vintage glamour, and a whole lot of joy that refused to go according to plan.
