This shoot was built around Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa’s poolside dining service in Rancho Mirage — the kind of assignment where the food and the setting have to work together in the frame. Bright desert light, blue pool water, and palm shade all become part of the composition, not just a backdrop behind the plates.
Poolside food photography has its own set of challenges: unforgiving midday sun, condensation forming fast on a cold glass, food that needs to read as freshly served rather than sun-baked. Keeping colors true and textures crisp is what turns a simple poolside spread into something genuinely appetizing on camera.
The final set was built with editorial and social use in mind — clean, bright images the resort can put to work across their marketing, and a real sense of what an afternoon poolside there actually looks like.
