Kaitlin and Gabe brought us out to Florida for a wedding set among fern forest greenery — a real departure from our usual desert palette, and one we loved for exactly that reason. Instead of open sky and mountains, this day was framed by dense canopy, filtered light, and that particular deep-green saturation that only shows up in a genuinely lush, humid climate.
Destination weddings like this one push us to adapt our whole approach to light and composition. Forest settings mean working with dappled shade instead of wide-open sun, which produces a softer, more intimate feel in the images — perfect for a day built around close family and quiet, personal moments rather than big dramatic backdrops.
It’s one of the reasons we love shooting outside our home base in Palm Springs and Nashville: every new environment teaches us something about how to see light differently, and a florida forest wedding is about as far from the desert as it gets.
