Engagement sessions are some of our favorite shoots to run, and Palm Springs makes the job easy. The clean lines of midcentury signage, the wide open desert sky, and that dry heat-shimmer light give every frame a modern, editorial feel without any extra styling required. Makin and Kelly clearly felt it too — the two of them love the desert as much as we do, and it showed in how relaxed and genuinely themselves they were in front of the camera.
Much of the session played out in front of one of Palm Springs’ iconic modern signs, the kind of graphic, high-contrast backdrop that turns a simple couple’s portrait into something that could hang on a wall. It’s a great example of why we point so many engagement clients toward this city: the architecture and the light do a lot of the heavy lifting, leaving our team free to focus on capturing the couple rather than fighting the setting.
Sessions like Makin and Kelly’s are exactly why engagement photography holds a special place in our lineup. It’s a lower-pressure day than a wedding, but the connection is just as real — and Palm Springs gives that connection a backdrop that photographs beautifully in every direction.
