This session took us to Glencoe, Scotland — a dramatic stretch of Highlands scenery with steep green slopes, moody skies, and light that changes by the minute. It’s about as far from a studio backdrop as portrait photography gets, and that was exactly the point.
Our subject, a UK-based DJ, made the trip up to Scotland this past spring specifically for this shoot, timed around the launch of her new brand and website. Rather than a standard headshot, the goal was a set of portraits with real atmosphere — something that felt as bold and distinctive as the brand she was building.
Shooting on location in the Highlands meant working with whatever the weather handed us that day, and the results have a rawness and depth that a studio session just can’t replicate. It’s one of our favorite examples of letting a landscape do some of the storytelling alongside the subject.
