Murfreesboro’s summers come with long days, green scenery, and just enough humidity to make golden hour worth chasing. Whatever the shoot — family portraits, an engagement session, or a solo portrait for yourself — this town has more good backdrops than people usually expect.

- Cannonsburgh Village — a reconstructed 19th-century village with a covered bridge and a cluster of historic buildings, all packed into one small, walkable spot.
- Stones River National Battlefield — open fields, wooded stretches, and quiet historic monuments make for a peaceful, wide-open setting.
- Barfield Crescent Park — wooded trails, open lawns, and a creek running through it, good for families and anyone who wants a more natural feel.
- Oaklands Mansion — a historic plantation home with manicured grounds and mature trees, for a more formal, elegant look.
- Gateway Island — a small, calm spot with a pond, a footbridge, and a walking path, well suited to intimate sessions.
- The Greenway System — miles of trails along the Stones River and Lytle Creek, with bridges and open fields for a more active, candid set of shots.
- Downtown Murfreesboro — historic storefronts, murals, and streetscapes for couples and portraits that want a more urban feel.
Across all of them, timing does a lot of the work. Early morning and the couple of hours before sunset keep the Tennessee summer heat and harsh midday light out of the equation, and give every one of these spots its best light of the day.
